CBD Smoothies

Since the start of 2021, I have taken on a new challenge called #75HARD (For details about that challenge on our blog go here and more about my progress in the next blog.) Part of that challenge is to follow a diet. Now, I have never been a “diet” person, however since I have been dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I have decided to opt out of taking meds and just treat myself with "Food as Medicine". It has not been easy!

I have been following the Autoimmune Protocol, which starts off with a 30 Day Elimination Phase. This means no grains, no dairy, no legumes (no beans), no nightshade vegetables and spices, no nuts and seeds, no eggs, no soy, no poor quality seed oils, no added sugar, no coffee, etc. Basically nothing processed and/or foods that may irritate your gut. After the initial 30 Day Elimination Phase, you start what’s called the Level 1 Reintroduction Phase, where you slowly start to reintroduce one food at a time and wait 3 days to see your body's reaction. You slowly work your way to Level 4 where you should have a better idea of what your body can tolerate.

Some people choose to eliminate one food at a time but I chose to just go cold turkey and eliminate everything at once, so I can get back to reintroducing everything and figure out what my personal irritants are. One of the hardest parts of the day is breakfast. I usually don’t have time to cook a meal with special ingredients and instructions so I have been making my own CBD smoothies. One of my favorite CBD smoothies to make is quick and filling. It is compliant with the Elimination Phase, so I have it as often as I can tolerate it.

Coconut Milk CBD Smoothies

Coconut Milk CBD Smoothie

  • 1 cup of Native Forest Simple Organic Unsweetened Coconut Milk
  • 1 medium sized ripe banana
  • 100mg of Freedom Extracts CBD Oil
  • A couple of ice cubes
  • ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon of ginger powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of clove powder
  • 1 scoop of Grass Fed Collagen Protein Powder
  • Blend and enjoy!
